Tra Verdejo Author & CEO

About Us

Traquan Verdejo was born in Puerto Rico and raised in the streets of Spanish Harlem, New York. With his father living in another country and his mother working long hours, he turned to the streets for guidance.  His rigid childhood had matured him faster then most.  His life's journey has suffered many hardships and has been dealt obstacles after obstacles. Through it all, he has survived and is on a mission to share his experiences with the world.  He grew a passion for writing and expressing himself through story telling at an early stage. "There was one time, my 7th grade teacher asked us to write about our summer. I wrote about how my cousin and I had robbed a cab driver at gun point and took his car for a joy ride. It wasn't true, but because the details were so vivid, I was sent to the principle's office the very next day. The faculty was all worked up and ready to get the police involved." That's when Tra realized the power of writing and the effects it could have on people.

Tra Verdejo started out by writing poetry and got the attention of many with his topics and bold scriptures. "I remember in High School I wrote a poem called, "The Snuffed Out Killa". The Poem was about the disease (H.I.V.) that killed my mother. It was a powerful piece and gave everyone who read it the chills.

After numerous attempts of breaking into the music business with his own independent label, he grew tired of the politics of the evil game.  Tra Verdejo then refocused his attention to his passion of writing and penned his first book in 2008, "Born In The Streets But Raised In Prison” (the autobiography of our young generation).  He started his own publishing company called Street Scriptures. With zero knowledge of the game he printed 1,000 books and relied on his hustle. Two years later, over 12,000 copies have been sold with little resources and no distribution.

Tra Verdejo is now getting closer to his dreams of becoming a household name. The success of his first book has opened the door for opportunities. He has conducted lectures with young men in different schools and programs. He also conducted a seminar at  the ” Why Women Cry” conferences in Baltimore.  Flowers High School in Largo, Maryland had their seniors do a book report on “Born in the Streets but Raised in Prison”.  Tra Verdejo published his second book in July 2009 called “Corrupt City” The success of the book and great reviews opened the eyes of cooperate America and now “Corrupt City 2” along with the first one will be distributed nationally due to a new publishing deal.

Tra Verdejo accomplishments have been great but he’s no where near his comfort zone.  In 2008 he released a literary calendar which featured best selling Authors like K’wan, Dutch and many more. 5,000 calendars were distributed in return it provided additional exposure for the Authors, models and Street Scriptures.  He has attended book fairs and book signings all over the country. Tra Verdejo has also conducted seminars for self published and published authors on how to hustle and market their books. Street Scriptures also started a distribution company in Baltimore where they have move thousands of books at whole sale prices. Tra has helped by increasing many author’s fan base in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. Street Scriptures opened a store in the largest flea market in Maryland where they have sold thousands of books at retail prices. Street Scriptures also holds an annual Harlem book fair bus trip that leaves out of Baltimore. For more information and updates, please visit the website www.streetscriptures.com
